Update the National Early Childhood Worker Register today

21 October 2026

From 27 February 2026, the National Early Childhood Worker Register (worker register) became operational across Australia.

The worker register providers State and Territory Regulatory Authorities with a secure, national view of who is working in education and care services and where. This improves regulatory oversight and supports child safety across the sector.

Approved providers must maintain accurate records for everyone working in their service. This includes:

  • educators
  • early childhood teachers
  • regular volunteers
  • students and trainees completing a placement and studying an approved education and care qualification
  • non-educator staff
  • nominated supervisors
  • coordinators (centre-based or family day care)
  • assistants.

Approved providers are responsible for ensuring all information in the worker register is accurate and current.

The worker register must be updated within 14 days when:

  • a person starts or leaves the service
  • a worker’s role or personal details change
  • new qualifications or training are completed
  • registration details are updated.

For questions or assistance with entering or updating information in the worker register contact ACECQA’s helpdesk support via email WorkerRegister@acecqa.gov.au or phone 1300 422 327.
