Starting Blocks transparency updates
Since November 2025, the StartingBlocks.gov.au website included new information about service and Approved Provider compliance. Families are now able to view enforcement actions on service and provider pages. The updates include:
- enforcement actions issued to services and providers by state and territory regulators, covering the past 2 years
- new resources to help families understand the types of enforcement actions being displayed
- a link to Australian Government Department of Education’s CCS enforcement actions register.
ACECQA has developed an information sheet to support educators to explain the NQF compliance monitoring activities of state and territory regulators. The helping services communicate with families on enforcement actions information sheet explains the 6 types of enforcement actions being displayed on StartingBlocks.gov.au for families.
There are 6 types of enforcement actions that are now published on StartingBlocks.gov.au:
- Conditions on provider or service approval
- Amendment of provider or service approval
- Suspension of provider or service approval
- Compliance notices
- Emergency action notices
- Enforceable undertakings.
To support greater transparency across the sector and community, the ESB recently increased the amount of information publicly available on our website relating to compliance actions. This includes the release of monthly data and details of action taken for compliance and emergency action notices. This information can be found here.
Approved Providers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the StartingBlocks.gov.au changes and the resources available to support conversations with families about enforcement actions.
