E-Safety: Responding to a 'Deepfake' incident in schools
The growing availability of generative AI and ‘nudify’ apps is resulting in an increase of ‘deepfake’ nude images in Australian schools. It is crucial that school staff act should they become aware of AI-generated or digitally altered intimate images of students or staff being shared via social media, messaging apps, school networks or elsewhere.
The eSafety Commissioner has released a new step-by-step guide to support schools in responding to ‘deepfake’ incidents. The guide can be accessed here.
A free professional learning session on AI-assisted image-based abuse: Navigating the deepfake threat is also available to attend through the eSafety Commissioner. Details can be found here.
