Disability Standards for Education training available

21 October 2026

From 1 August 2026, the Disability Standards for Education 2005 (the Standards) apply to early learning services that are approved to administer the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) or are legally required to deliver an education program based on an approved learning framework.

To support awareness and understanding of obligations under the Standards, a suite of e-learning courses have been developed for the early childhood sector.

There are four courses available:

  • ECEC leaders including centre directors, supervisors and program managers
  • ECEC teachers working in centre-based care, preschool and kindergarten
  • ECEC educators including preschool, kindergarten, centre-based care, family day care and in home care educators
  • OSHC educators, leaders and co-ordinators.

The courses are freely available on the NCCD portal and can also be accessed via the Australian Government Department of Education website.

The Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) has also released a suite of resources to support children’s education and care services to understand their legislative obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Standards.

New online courses on the Standards for schools are in development and expected to be published at the end of the year.
