Small objects in outdoor play spaces: amended position
The Education Standards Board has reviewed its position on small objects in outdoor play spaces using guidance from ACECQA, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) Product Safety Australia and Kidsafe.
Our information has been amended to reference children under two years of age rather than children under three years of age.
However, ACECQA, ACCC and Kidsafe all recommend any object smaller than a table tennis ball can be a choking hazard and should be kept well out of reach of children under the age of three years. So this should be considered when providing play materials for children in this age range at education and care services.
