Development on Education and Early Childhood Services (Registration and Standards) Regulations 2011 Consultation

Part 3, section 16 of the Act prescribes that residual early childhood services are to be regulated through a modified application of the National Law and through service-specific regulations and standards. The modifications and exclusions of the National Law that pertain to residual early childhood services are listed in Schedule 2 of the Act.

During 2013, the Education and Early Childhood Services (Registration and Standards Board of South Australia (the Board) initiated face to face consultation with residual early childhood service providers in relation to the development of operational regulations and standards for residual early childhood education and care services.

The development of regulations for mobile and occasional care services as well as development of standards for stand-alone family day care is still in progress.

South Australian Standards for In-Home Care Services

The Board has recently approved the South Australian Standards for In-Home Care Services to be effective from 1 July 2014.

The Standards were developed in consultation with in-home care providers during 2013. They form a set of operational requirements that an approved provider of an in-home care service must comply with as a condition on their service approval in accordance with Regulation 27 of the Education and Early Childhood Services (Registration and Standards) Regulations 2011.
